IN THESE times of financial hardship, businesses must do all they can to get the customers, and one trip boat operator is certainly going the extra mile.

Nick Osborn of Pennine Boat Trips has engaged the services of northern comedian Dave Spikey to spice up the commentary on his trip boats, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Switched-off

It was realised that many customers on the boats switched-off, especially during the necessary safety commentary, so the normal script was sent to Dave who from it created a comic commentary for the passengers on the boats, that has them in stitches.

Pennine Boat Trips is located at Skipton on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, and Nick believes his is the only company that has taken this approach to on-board commentary, bringing humour to what can be a very uninteresting subject.
